Captains of Industry
‘Captains of Industry’: Visionary leaders, innovators join us in shaping the future
Our supporters help us shape a better future; our Captains of Industry supporters empower us to do this on an even larger scale.
With their generous contributions of $5000 USD and more annually over three years, members of our “Captains of Industry” supporter program empower us to reach even more students hungry for knowledge, and preserve and steward even more of the story of synthesis, leveraging their gifts to fuel us over a three-year period, allowing us to expand our three major projects: Dr Bob’s Soundschool, the Bob Moog Foundation Archives, and the Moogseum.

Honoring our Captains:
Synth designer Axel Hartmann (the man behind the design of literally dozens of synthesizers from leading manufacturers) created and donated our custom graphic honoring the Bob Moog Foundation’s Captains of Industry, modeling it on the early modular synthesizers Bob designed between 1964 and 1970 with his first company, R.A. Moog, Co.
Hartmann painstakingly designed each module to represent the work of the supporter represented. Click any image to see more detail.
Our sustaining backers inspire future generations with their own unique genius. They also help us place the future firmly in the hands of young people who are constantly creating, constantly breaking barriers.
One of the most vital ways that they do this is by supporting our hallmark educational project, Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool.
Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool currently reaches 3,000 students annually, with more than 23,000 grads over the last nine years, stimulating critical thinking and inspiring future professional endeavors in science, music, technology, and engineering.
What would your life have been like if you were exposed to electronic music technology and sound science at a young age?
We’re here to offer this life-changing experience – one based in Bob’s lifework – to U.S. students by the tens of thousands, and online to provide inspiration to students internationally.
Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool helps us turn second-graders into members of a scientifically literate electorate. You know, the one that will be shaping public policy in 20 years.
“We are deeply grateful to the leaders in the music technology industry who have come together through the Captains of Industry campaign to make a substantial impact on the Bob Moog Foundation’s innovative work. With their support, we are able to sustain and expand our programs, inspiring thousands of people from all walks of life through the intersection of science, music, and innovation. We hope other industry leaders will be inspired to join this effort.”
