Visionary inventor, innovator and synthesizer pioneer Tom Oberheim, founder of three electronics companies including Oberheim Electronics, Inc. and still creating new instruments like the OB-X8 analog synth, has joined our Captains of Industry program for supporters.

And to add even more excitement to the occasion, Tom joins us on his birthday, July 7.

Welcome to the Captains of Industry, Tom. We’re glad to have you, and we can’t wait to put your support to work.

“Captains of Industry” like Tom and others empower our efforts on a larger scale, with a donation of $5000 USD or more annually over a three-year period, helping us grow scientific and technical literacy today, while preserving the electronic instruments of the past. 

With a supporter like Tom Oberheim on our side, we can do even more to promote scientific literacy and grow technological understanding, introducing young people by the tens of thousands to what inspired Tom, Bob, and all of our work: the science of sound, and how the engineering principles that inspired Tom, Bob and others can be an experiential part of learning to think and act critically. 

Synth designer Axel Hartmann created these custom virtual modules for our Captains of Industry supporters. We’ve added a new one for Tom Oberheim.
