The historic Abominatron tape is the audio recording originally sent to Herb Deutsch from Bob Moog in 1965, in which Bob explains in his own voice, every parameter of the Moog synthesizer prototype. The 84-minute reel-to-reel tape was donated to the Bob Moog Foundation Archives by Herb Deutsch, and has been carefully restored and transferred to digital format by Seva.
MIDI has been at the center of music technology innovation since 1983, and MIDI 2.0 is positioned to build on MIDI 1.0’s global success. In furthering MIDI’s development and artistic impact, there is now an official award to acknowledge MIDI innovation.
In this episode, we learn how these machines with keys, knobs, switches, buttons and sliders actually make sound. We’ll also travel back to the 1960’s and hear how synth pioneers like Bob Moog helped bring these sound making devices into the mainstream.
